Whop for Ecommerce Brands: Run Your Store End to End

Whop says it can run a business from LLC to ads to payouts. We checked each step for ecommerce brands, with costs, gaps, and a test plan.

On September 23, 2026, Whop posted a seven-step description of itself: open an LLC, build a site, launch a product, get paid, run ads, recruit affiliates, pay your team, all without leaving Whop. For an ecommerce brand that list reads like a replacement for a stack of separate tools: a formation service, Shopify, Stripe, an ad account provider, an affiliate app, and payroll. We went through Whop's own announcements, docs, and product pages for each step to see how much of that holds up for a store that ships physical products.

Step 1: Open an LLC

Whop says it can form your LLC in minutes. You pick a business name, add your industry, business type, and founder details, and pay. Whop files with the state, applies for the EIN, and acts as registered agent. Per Whop's blog, it costs $500 for the first year including the EIN, state filing fees, and registered agent, then $100 a year for the registered agent and ongoing service, and non-US founders can pay $250 more for expedited EIN processing. You can form it from the portal, the API, or the CLI command whop accounts llc, and without a US Social Security Number, though an EIN can take up to eight weeks without one unless expedited.

For a store, an LLC separates personal assets from business liabilities, which matters once you carry inventory, ad spend, and customer returns. You do not need one to start selling on Whop. Tax and state choice are worth a call with an accountant.

Step 2 and 3: Build a Site and Launch a Product

Whop Blueprints are not themes. Each is a working business, so deploying one copies the products, pricing, and website already wired to checkout. There are four ways to start: have Whop's AI build it from a chat description, deploy a blueprint, clone an existing site from its URL, or build it yourself and push with the Whop CLI. Whop also offers a pixel-only option that leaves your site where it is and feeds visitors and sales into the Whop dashboard. Whop lists an Ecommerce blueprint alongside Software, Creative Agency, Gym, Service, and Neobank blueprints.

Whop's announcement of ecommerce stores on October 1, 2026 added a demo merch store and a site builder with blueprint, AI, and migrate options. We covered what is and is not shown in Whop ecommerce stores vs Shopify. Its older docs still describe physical product fulfillment as webhooks through Zapier, so confirm shipping and inventory before you rely on it.

Step 4: Get Paid

This is Whop's strongest ground. Beyond checkout, three pieces matter to a store.

  • ▶Sales tax and VAT: Whop Tax Service offers three models. Whop collects, files, and remits; Whop calculates and you remit (Whop's recommended option); or you handle tax yourself. Full compliance is available in the US, the UK, and all EU countries at launch.
  • ▶Risk Scores: each transaction and buyer gets a 0 to 100 risk score from device signals, buyer history, card and network fraud data, and transaction source. For now the scores guide manual action, with automatic blocking thresholds planned.
  • ▶Stripe migration: Whop Migrations moves Stripe subscriptions and payment tokens together so customers are not asked to re-enter cards. It runs a preview scan first, lets you exclude subscriptions, and produces a CSV report. This matters for subscription brands such as supplements and coffee.

Fees decide whether this beats Stripe on your order value. Our posts on ecom payment processing on Whop and Whop for ecom operators cover the published fee schedule, and you should confirm it on Whop's fee page before moving revenue.

Step 5: Run Ads

Whop Ads advertises to Meta, TikTok, and Google. Whop's page promises ad accounts and social pages created in under a minute, infinite spend limits through enterprise ad accounts, highest auction priority, and that you will never have an account shut down. You can pay with your own credit card or reinvest from your Whop balance. The Whop Pixel feeds visitor data into audiences such as abandoned carts and high-intent visitors, and the page lists integrations with Triple Whale, OmniTrack, BeeCortana, and Cometly.

Treat the no-shutdown line as marketing. Accounts get restricted for policy and billing reasons, and a provider cannot promise otherwise. Our guide to ad account providers covers what to check, and the Meta ad account suspension guide covers what happens when one is restricted. For Google, the harder question is feed quality and structure, not account access, so see Google Ads versus Meta Ads for ecommerce.

Step 6: Recruit Affiliates

Whop has two separate programs, and it helps to keep them apart. Whop Partners pays you to refer other businesses to Whop: up to 30% of Whop's gross profit on each referral, recurring while the business earns, plus 1% of the referred business's ad spend on Whop Ads and second-tier commissions. Whop says partners have earned over $10 million. That is you earning from Whop, not a tool for your store's own affiliates. For your own store's creators and affiliates, Whop sellers can run affiliate programs on their products. We have not confirmed how it tracks physical product orders, so test attribution before you promise commissions.

Step 7: Pay Your Team

Whop's docs have a Pay Your Team page: you pay a team member or any Whop user from your Whop balance, they get an email and can cash out to their bank, and Whop charges a 3% fee on team payments. Balances, payouts, and virtual cards with spend limits are covered in the Whop Neobank blueprint. That fits paying creators, affiliates, and contractors. It does not replace payroll, employment tax, or compliance for employees, so check the 3% fee against your payout volume.

Whop Economic Intelligence: The Layer on Top

Whop's newest layer, Economic Intelligence, recommends the next best action in your dashboard, such as running ads or optimizing the site with Blueprints, and can execute it once you approve. Whop's own CLI and MCP let AI agents run these steps programmatically, so a brand could script most of the seven steps.

Who Should Consider It

  • ▶New brands and first stores, where one dashboard for company, site, checkout, tax, and ads removes setup friction.
  • ▶Creator and community merch, where an audience already lives on Whop.
  • ▶Subscription and digital-plus-physical brands, where Stripe migration and checkout are the main work.
  • ▶Overseas founders who need a US LLC and a payment stack without an SSN.
  • ▶Not sure it beats your current stack? Run the numbers in should your ecommerce brand switch to Whop.

Who Should Wait

  • ▶Established Shopify stores with Google Shopping, a feed app stack, and deep theme customization.
  • ▶High-SKU catalogs until inventory, variants, and shipping rules are documented.
  • ▶Brands that depend on Shopify apps for reviews, email, and upsells.

A Test Plan for an Ecom Brand

  • ▶Launch one new product on a Whop Blueprint site and keep the main store untouched.
  • ▶Place real test orders through checkout, tax, shipping, and a refund.
  • ▶Compare Whop's fees with your Shopify plus payments cost at your average order value.
  • ▶Run a small Whop Ads test against your existing Meta account and compare cost per purchase.
  • ▶Check whether you can export a product feed and install conversion tracking before sending Google traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I run an ecommerce store entirely on Whop?

Partly. Whop covers LLC formation, site building, checkout, tax, risk scoring, and ads, but shipping, inventory, and Google Shopping feed details have not been published. Test it on a new product first.

How much does it cost to form an LLC through Whop?

Per Whop's blog, $500 for the first year including EIN registration, state filing, and registered agent, then $100 a year, with $250 extra for expedited EIN for non-US residents.

Does Whop handle sales tax for ecommerce?

Whop Tax Service can calculate, collect, file, and remit sales tax and VAT in the US, UK, and EU, or calculate it while you file, or you can handle tax yourself.

Can Whop run Google and Meta ads for my store?

Whop Ads supports Meta, TikTok, and Google campaigns through enterprise ad accounts. Its no-account-shutdown promise is marketing, so verify it and keep your own account backups.

Does Whop replace Shopify?

Not yet proven. It suits new brands and creator merch, but established stores that rely on Shopify apps, feeds, and Google Shopping should test it on one product line first.
