Notch AI Review: Can Ecom Brands Replace a Meta Media Buyer?

Can ecom brands replace their Meta ads media buyer with Notch AI? An operator's analysis of what it does, its 3.8x ROAS and 50,000-ad claims, pricing, and what to verify before you buy.

On September 23, 2026, Vinay Jain, a founder at Notch, posted that his team ran a brand with only AI agents and introduced the product behind it. The post passed 768,000 views. Here is what Notch actually sells, which of its numbers are checkable, and where an operator should be skeptical.

What Notch Is

Notch describes its agent as a hire, not a feature: it gets a name, a brief, and a job description, posts its work in Slack, and takes direction in plain language. The agent, Max, studies your store and ad account, pitches angles, builds the ads, and launches those you approve. Notch says it connects through the official Meta Ads API as a verified Business Partner, and that nothing goes live without your approval or the rules you set.

What Notch Claims

  • ▶Scale: 50,000+ ads shipped for 4,300+ brands and agencies.
  • ▶Spend and ROAS: 3.8x blended ROAS across $160K spent behind ads built by the agent, in 30 days.
  • ▶Second result: 2.02x over 21 days at $200K+ of settled spend, with budget held flat.
  • ▶Output: its summer case study cites 1,500+ finished videos downloaded across sixteen verticals from June 1 to August 31, 2026, about 400+ new finished video ads a month.
  • ▶Brand run: the founders say they ran a brand with only AI agents, and the site targets a brand running 100% of its ads through Notch within 90 days.

All of these are Notch's figures. The site labels the ROAS as verifiable real spend, but it names no brand, attribution window, or account we could inspect, and one testimonial is credited only to a founder at a DTC home decor brand.

What to Check Before You Believe the ROAS

  • ▶Attribution: is 3.8x platform-reported Meta ROAS, or confirmed against Shopify revenue and net of returns?
  • ▶Baseline: what did the same account earn before? A 2.02x result means little without the prior number.
  • ▶Budget role: creative testing and scaling are different jobs, and one blended ROAS hides which worked.
  • ▶Approval load: you still approve the work, so count the hours your team spends reviewing, not only the ads shipped.
  • ▶Fit: a 'taste' score against your Brand Brain is Notch's own grader, not a guarantee the ads convert.

Who It Fits, and Who It Does Not

It fits Meta-heavy DTC brands and agencies that bottleneck on creative volume and already have a clean account and a measured baseline. It can take over the creative and routine monitoring half of a media buyer's job. The half it is not shown to do is deciding budgets against profit and margin, so a brand replacing its buyer outright is taking that on itself. It also does nothing for Google Shopping, Performance Max, or search, where the work is feed quality, structure, and target ROAS. Our guide to Google Ads versus Meta Ads for ecommerce covers how to split spend between them.

Can It Fully Replace Your Meta Ads Media Buyer?

Notch's pitch is that you manage the agent like a manager, not a machine operator. A media buyer's week has roughly four jobs: finding angles, producing creative, managing budgets and structure, and reporting. Notch claims all four on its weekly cycle. To replace a buyer fully, a brand needs three things in place first:

  • ▶A profit target the agent can be held to: break-even ROAS and margin by product, written down, because Notch reports ROAS and you still own the decision about what ROAS is good enough.
  • ▶A named human approver: every ad still needs sign-off, so someone must own that review each week, and that person is now your de facto media buyer.
  • ▶Independent measurement: Shopify-confirmed revenue next to Meta's numbers, so you can tell if the agent is working or only reporting well.

Our read: it can replace the production and routine-monitoring work, and a lean brand can run with it and one in-house owner. Fully removing human judgment on budget and profit is the claim to test, not assume.

Pricing

Notch says it is moving to enterprise: you book a demo, and there is no free trial or self-serve plan on the site, which also has a FAQ on what is happening to its Basic and Pro plans. Enterprise pricing is custom, and the site lists no price. Ask for the price per agent, what happens to your assets and Brand Brain if you cancel, and who owns the creative.

Our Take

The product idea is sound: creative volume is a real constraint on Meta, and a weekly cadence of plan, build, approve, launch is how good teams already work. The evidence is the weak part, since every number is the vendor's. We have not used Notch, so treat this as a read of its public claims. If you try it, run it on one campaign with a stated baseline and judge it on Shopify-confirmed revenue.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Notch AI?

Notch is an autonomous AI marketer for Meta ads. Its agent, Max, researches your store and competitors, builds finished ads, and launches the ones you approve through the Meta Ads API.

How much does Notch cost?

Notch lists no public price. It is moving to enterprise plans sold through a demo, and the site has no self-serve or free trial option.

Does Notch run Google Ads?

No. Notch is built for Meta ads. Google Shopping, Performance Max, and search need a separate approach.

Can I trust Notch's 3.8x ROAS claim?

Treat it as a vendor claim. It is not tied to a named brand or a stated attribution window, so ask for a baseline and confirm results against Shopify revenue.

Will Notch get my ad account banned?

Notch says it uses the official Meta Ads API as a verified Business Partner, with no scrapers. We have not verified this, and you remain responsible for ad policy compliance.
